Macade is being deployed!
So Macade spent the better part of the morning at Camp Williams being poked with all sorts of good stuff to prepare for his deployment. The word today is that he will spend this weekend with his unit and then report on Wednesday for FTX. (Field training exercises). It sounds like he will be at Camp Williams for a couple of weeks and then come home for a few days before leaving for Wisconsin. He will have even more info by the end of the weekend. He is going with a SAPPER unit? I am not sure what it stands for but it is the big bad unit to not mess with I guess. It is a full combat unit and he will be right in the thick of things. He needs all the support he can get right now and throughout the next year. We are asking that only positive and uplifting words come his way. (And ours) He is anxious to get going and I am fairly certain that there is something good in whatever they poked his arm with this morning, because he is ready to go! Thanks to everyone for supporting our family.
ps I will also resume posting on his blog 1armyguy.blogspot.com

No news is good news....
Well, maybe.
Macade hasn't received the call yet. I realize the Army can be slow with the paper pushing, but come on! Anyhow, we will keep everyone posted on that progress. (Or lack thereof).
Skyler, I am devastated to say, did not make the PACK. We are very sad, but ready to move on and will just keep at it until we find something for him.
And Koy tied his last time for the mile. He was ticked! But he did beat his previous 1/2 mile time by 6 seconds.
Baby steps people. One day at a time. Just breathe.
Oh sorry. Are you still here? I was just typing to myself.
I need therapy on so many levels.

I have news!!!
And pictures! So the big news of the week...(For each kid)
If you haven't heard yet, it looks like Macade has been transferred to the unit that is deploying to Afghanistan in June. Now, it is not a done deal yet. We are still waiting for word from his Sgt. He would be in training pretty much all of May and then ship out. He is very deep in thought these last few days and wants to spend a lot of time with us. He is anxious and nervous, but he has said several times that he is ready to serve the country. He would be gone for a year with a compact unit and that is pretty much all I know. I will keep this blog updated on him. Here he is with his good friend Robbie.
Skyler has been really busy as well. This week he had spirit week. He got to dress like a pirate yesterday and was so excited about it that I am not sure he slept at all. When I went to wake him up I said, "ahoy mate. Are you going to shower this morning?" His reply? "Parlay".
He is interviewing for a student leadership club at Timpanogos High today. It is called PACK and he wants it so bad!! It will be a shame if he doesn't make it being he has more school spirit than anyone I know. (PS I literally dyed my hair green with food coloring in high school. I would not recommend doing that by the way.)
Koy has been so into track! Who knew?! He runs about 4 miles a day after school and is holding his own with the big boys. Keep an eye out for him in the future! He is running the mile and half mile. He has never complained once about the amount of time he spends training. He loves it! The biggest news for him though is that he made the acapella choir!!! Only 12 7th graders made it for next year. It is normally just 9th graders! I am thrilled beyond reason! He doesn't understand what the big deal is, but I, myself, could sing from the rooftops! I remember being so bummed about not joining choir and then hoping my kids would. So this is a huge deal for me even though he has threatened me not to tell the world. (You didn't hear a thing!)
So, it's been a pretty eventful week around here. Next post I will download our photos from our hiking trip with US Synthetic.
