My Locks of Love

So, I finally did it. (Thank you friends for listening to me talk about it for weeks now!) I got my hair cut yesterday. My good friend Courtney had to take several nice chops to get these thick locks off. I will be sending in 11 inches in memory of my Grandma Burnell! I decided several years ago to do this after watching her suffer with cancer. She didn't live long enough to need a wig, but I sure hope mine goes to someone who really needs it. My Grandma had the thickest most beautiful red hair! Also a shout out to my good friend Colette who would have looked great in my hair but now has her own beautiful hair again. I love ya sista! I'm so glad I was able to donate! I love the foundations that do this! I love and miss my Grandma! I adore my friend Colette. And I love having 10 less pounds of hair to lug around! Just think of the shampoo I'll save!

To my favorite rodeo clown

Just a shout out to my favorite rodeo clown, Troy Lerwill. Thanks you so much for GIVING ME A HEART ATTACK! I was just sitting snugly between my mom and sister enjoying a few cowboys in some Wrangler attire when VROOM!!!! You decide to jump over your whole horse trailer and truck while fire is blowing out the top of them!!! What the heck was that all about?! I have barely coerced my body to function normally after that appalling display of craziness! Could you just frighten a sister a little more? Good Grief!!!
No really, never have I seen this before and I'M a redneck! It was so cool and so scary! So here's to Troy who made me cry over and over into my sisters arm, "he is NOT going to jump over that trailer! He is NOT going to jump over that trailer!" I LOVED it! Bring it on! Put on that big sexy cowboy hat and those size 23 shoes and give my heart another jump start! That was GREAT!

Oh Gross!!!

OMAGOSH! So there you have it. My husband is officially BFF with Micheal Gross! How exciting is this?! He says that Michael is a totally cool and down to earth nice guy. Nice to know they still can do it huh? So Sterling is having a great time in CA after a stress filled couple of months. So excited for him! He says the national guys are really loving his stuff. This is his modules they are standing in front of. So proud of you Sterling!

Fastidious

Fastidious is the word of the day. Not that I have ever had a word of the day thus far, but I'm contemplating it now. Fastidious originates from Dr. Payne's office. It's meaning is whatever Doc sees fit to use it for. (As does my personal favorite, Concise) I'm really not sure of the spelling on either word but don't they just make you happy to say them. Believe me, my staff meeting experiences are not complete without a good "concise" moment. I swear he makes these words up sometimes just to test my Payson vocab. Another favorite Dr. Payne word is "damnit"! I'm pretty sure this one originates from Guatemala. It means, "I can't say the word I'm thinking of." I am definitely not sure of the spelling on that one, because I NEVER use that word. So here's to Doc, my Vocab extraordinaire and his willingness to keep me in tuned to the conversation.

I think I can

I just have to boast about my husband for a moment... He really has it going on when it comes to trains!!! As some of you know, he is preparing to go to CA for a national show. (Don't worry Miss, Michael Gross is a model railroader and he will be there.) So he agreed to bring the loop that he has been building, but he anticipated having a springtime in which to work on it. Unfortunately, here in good ol Utah, we went straight from 30 degrees to 100 degrees. So, my totally devoted husband has been in our 130 degree garage for weeks now trying to get the loop done. He is an amazing artist! He has been building cedar trees, making sage brush and designing a cement plant that would toot yer whistle! They are so real looking! He is very dedicated to making things look so perfect! He is the envy of his friends and hopefully the national guys! I really am not being partial either. He does awesome work! So here's to those that have been hot and sweaty for a good cause!

Ode to my Grandma

So I'm not sure if everyones Grandma used this term so excuse me for a minute while I rant about the use of the term "tickled pink". My Grandma would say this all the time! Or just the shortened version "tickled" My Grandma was a great woman! She was a tough old gal too. She could fish like a shark and much to her dismay, I got seasick the few times they attempted to take me out. I loved eating at Grandmas too. We ALWAYS had chicken gumbo or tomato soup. YUM! You never wanted to be at Grandmas when she was in a bad mood though. It was these precious moments that she would pull out the hairbrush and decide we all need a good comb-through. O wow! Did I mention I get my lovely thick locks straight from Gram? O yes, the torture... My Grandma was a serious chain smoker. She smoked like a freight train until heart derailment sent her in for open heart surgery. She never smoked again.. or wore a bra. Nice. I think one of my Grandma's joys was that my Skyler would crawl his 12 year old self up on her lap and fall asleep. He NEVER did that with anyone but Grandma. I miss her. I miss her funny phrases and her fun giggle. I miss being one of her favorites. I miss tickling her pink.
