Happy Memorial Day

Just wanted to take a second to thank all those who have served for my freedom. As I dragged the kids through the Orem City Cemetery this morning I remembered several cemetery visits as a child myself. I will admit that, as my nephew said, "I only do it for my Mom." I went along and went through the motions without giving much thought to why we celebrate this holiday.
This last couple of years and especially today had deeper meaning for me. I was able to appreciate the sacrifices of those who have given for me to be free.
As we prepare to send our son to war, this sacrifice is all too real. That people have done this day after day for so many years has completely left me in awe.
The service at the cemetery was beautiful and left me with a feeling of pride after seeing those veterans that love this country so much, with tears in their eyes as they remembered their fallen friends.
May God bless them and those that continue to serve.
My friend K, has posted a beautiful photo of Cade on her blog. She is gifted with a camera and with her kind words. Check it out at http://www.pricelessimpressions.blogspot.com/

Duck and Moore

I want to introduce you to our newest family member.

We love him.

We wait for him to come every day at about 5:30 when he sees "Ducks truck" come around the corner.
Our neighbor that we will call "Buddy" has adopted our family as his own. He has Skyler and Koy's names down but calls me "Moore" because he is too lazy to say the Sister part. But, here's the best one. He calls Sterling, "Duck". He adores Duck. He sees him come home, he is on our porch. He hears Duck working outside and he is on his back playing monkey. He even thinks Duck is home and he is sneaking out of his house in his foot bottom pj's and through our door. He adores Duck. Duck is so wrapped around Buddy's finger that he does anything for the kid. He spent more on "snacks" at Costco for Buddy than we spent on our own kids. He throws Buddy around and swings him by his "beets". (He can't say f's.) They are each others best buddies.
Buddy hangs at our house and even has his own cup picked out here. He has been known to try to put a rock through the garage when we didn't answer the door. Then he was caught trying to break the window to get in. He cries such a mournful little cry when he has to go home.
He wears us out! And we love it! I look forward to being a Grandma.
In 15 years.
When I am old enough of course.

Update

So, busy as usual here in the Ghetto. As I type there are several police units scouring the neighborhood for heaven only knows what. I'll let you know what's up after they frisk me. (Please frisk me...) That would at least make it worth the fact that I couldn't get onto my street.
Anyway, I updated Cade's blog and let's just say there is much to do with him before deployment.
Skyler is good. His new math tutor is a champ! I only wish I would've found him sooner. Unfortunately, I think the math teacher is the problem. Anyway, he will sail through accounting next year! He applied for a job at the local ballpark. Say a little prayer for him.
Koy is still the funniest little dude I know. He is done with track and enjoying an occasional root beer. He is singing in his last concert this week and I think he is a little bummed that it's almost summer time. My kids are freaks in that they detest summer. They get too bored. Weirdos. He told me today that he had next year all figured out to his advantage. He will be in A Capella with a lot of 9th graders. So he figured he could make lots of older friends then be nice to the "sevies" that would love to hang with a 8th grader that has lots of 9th grade friends. Then he got that mad scientist look and said, "younger people are so easily manipulated." Watch out people! This kid is a little... wow! I love it.
Sterling is going mad himself trying to find a contractor that will renovate our house. It is a big deal and I'm hoping it works out. Don't worry that I wasn't so into the idea of adding a train room. That is until he figured out he would have to sweeten the deal with a master bedroom and bath for me. Hmmmmm... I see a connection to a certain 7th grader here.
I am staying pretty busy as it is the only way to stay sane. Well, at least not insane... well...
OK, anyway, I hope you are all doing well too.
